THE ANNOINTING AND THE BEARER – WALKING IN THE ANNOINTING

THE ANNOINTING AND THE BEARER – WALKING IN THE ANNOINTING

[1] What the anointing is !

The anointing is the spirit of God placed upon a man to perform a specific duty. There are many instances in the scripture where this was done.

Old Testament-Judg. 3:9-11; Judg.4:4-9; Judg.6:11-40; Judg.11:10-11; Judg.13:1-6; 1 Sam. 9:1- 27; 1 Sam.10:1-27.

New Testament- Acts 2:1-4; Acts 4:31; Acts 10:44-48; Acts 19:1-6

[2] Must I be anointed with oil to carry the anointing?

No! The anointing comes from God and not from man. (Judges 3:9-11; Acts 2:1-4). A man may be anointed with oil but if he is not chosen he cannot carry the anointing. The oil is a sign of being chosen already. The Holy Spirit will lead you into your placement and that is what you are anointed for! Of course there is a training period before this maturation into placement! (Galatians 4:1-2)

[3] Who is chosen to carry the anointing?

Every child of God is chosen to carry the anointing. The anointing places us into position in the body of Christ –our calling! For we are all a chosen generation, a holy priesthood to show forth the glory of God! No child of God is barren of the anointing! Therefore, the man anointed with oil and doesn’t carry the anointing is a Cain seed-the seed of the serpent –the hypocrite! (Heb. 6:7-8)

[4] Responsibility of God to the anointed- God Gives All The Instruments Necessary For Success and important landmarks that cannot be forgotten

(a) God gives the word of prophecy concerning him: God gave Saul word concerning his situation at Rachel’s sepulchar (1Sam. 10: 2)

(b) God gives the full word: God gave Saul bread at the plan of Tabor typifying the word of God- the bread that came down from Heaven-Jesus (1Sam.10: 4)

1 (b) God gives a new spirit and a new heart: God gave Saul a new heart and a new spirit typifying the new hear and spirit we are given today (1Sam.10:5-6, 9-11; 2Cor.5:17; Rom.7:6;Rom.8:9)

(c) God gives a mentor: God gave Samuel as a mentor to Saul. God will place a mentor in an anointed’s life until he comes of age to carry out God’s purpose. God placed Samuel under Eli until Samuel came of age (1Sam.1-4). The same thing in the new testament dispensation- The Apostles were under Jesus; we are under the 5-fold ministry tutors until we come of age (Eph.4:11-14)

(d) The anointing comes with instructions for the job:

The anointing comes with instructions. Saul was instructed twice (1Sam.10:8; 1Sam.15:1-3) though he failed. His kingdom would have been established had he obeyed.

[5] Responsibility of the anointing carrier

(a) Till your fallow heart diligently

To till the fallow ground of the heart so that God can rain righteousness ( Hosea 10:12) When God gives a new heart and a new spirit it is incumbent upon the receiver to deal with personal problems- to let the Holy Spirit do the work of sanctification so that personal problems do not spoil the ministry. The Apostle Paul calls it a root of bitternesss springing up to defile (Heb.12:15-16). Deal with hidden roots of evil in the life and those from the ancestral lineage (foundational problems).

(b) Don’t nurse your faults; they can kill

Saul did not deal with his personal problems (man- pleaser, impatient, disobedience, not discerning spiritual things) in his life and he lost the kingdom (I Sam.15: 27). Samson did not deal with his personal problems and died with the wicked his eyes having been plucked out (The ‘ravens of the valley’ (wicked philistines that dwelt in the valley) plucked off his eyes just as the scripture says about the disobedient child who never listened to his mother despite his great calling (Prov. 30:17). Judas was called but did not deal with his personal problems and lost the kingdom of Heaven. Judas name was removed from the book of life. Ananias and Saphira also lost their lives having disallowed the Holy Spirit from doing His perfect work on their lives (Acts 5:1-11). Moses had anger and/or short temper and it eventually made him lose the Promised Land. Even after repentance he still was not permitted to go on. We shall not lose in Jesus name. Our names shall not be removed from the book of life in Jesus Christ name.

(c ) It takes some time for the hidden evil to come out

Don’t keep your faults hidden underneath. Every unfinished deliverance will rear up its ugly head at the least unexpected moment and will disgrace the person. So we must make sure we are 2 fully delivered to bear the office God has chosen for us (See Charles Price prophecy -Scroll 51). It took two years for Saul’s fault to manifest that he had not dealt with ISam.13:8-14. Hidden evil in people’s lives bring out a whole catalogue of more evils like a chain- pride, disobedience, cheap popularity came out in Sauls life (I Sam 15:15-17) and women problems in David’s life ( II Sam.11:1-5 )

(d ) Works things out God’s own way

I Sam. 13:13 shows a classic example of a man who wanted to help God in a way God has not chosen and he paid dearly for it. Also David in trying to bring the ark of God did it in a wrong way and Uzzah died (II Sam.6:1-7). We must shun ungodly canvassing for money because if God has called us He will provide for the work– He is the Jehovah-Jireh.

(e) Must have a pliable heart

David when he fell into error cried onto the Lord admitting his guilt but Saul was still arguing with the Holy Spirit (2Sam. 12: 13; 1Sam. 15:17-20).

(f) The anointing carrier must not carry the anointing for personal reasons

The anointing carrier must not work the work of the ministry for money or personal gain. We work the work of the ministry in love because we’ve made up our minds to work the work of our Father.
